John Baldessari

John Baldessari is an American conceptual artist who, over his prolific career, has been featured in over 200 solo shows. He has been descibed as ”one of the most influential artists to emerge since the mid-1960s” and has worked with a range of media including composite photocollages, video installations and phototext canvases . In 1970 he moved to his studio in Santa Monica, LA from which he has resisted the natural move to New York art scene ever since. Here, he currently lectures at the University of California alongside creating and curating his numerous exhibitions (he had 5 solo exhibitions in 2007 alone) .
