Slinkachu is a London based street artist who remodels and paints figurines made for model rail sets before setting them up in streets, where he photographs them and leaves them behind for anyone to find. In 2008 he began a project entitled ‘Inner City Snail’ inwhich he decorated snails found in London, he then released them to carry on their business. This according to the artist was a satire of streetart and ‘our need to cover every available surface of our cities with graffiti, signage and advertising.’

Sperry Top-Sider x J.crew

Posted in Fashion by peeped on January 29, 2009

More shoe collaborations for you. Obama endorsed J.Crew have teamed up with Sperry to create a very wearable shoe for spring.  Taking their superhiplastsummer Top-Siders J.Crew have introduced a worn in leather effect and suede to the uppers that suit the shoe to a tee. I’ve been after a pair of Top-Siders for a while (late yes, I some how missed the boat last summer) and the suedes are now on my hit list. These may be dull, but admit it, you like them don’t you?

With no solid news as to whether he will ever return to fashion at least we still have his photographs. Above are a select few from his recent work capturing Kate Moss, Jethro Cave and Pierre Berge.

A.P.C. x Nike

Posted in Fashion by peeped on January 29, 2009

A.P.C. have colabrated once again with Nike this time choosing 3 different colour schemes for their All-Court sneakers. In typical A.P.C. fashion these are simple and understated coming with red, blue and white ticks. Marginally more effort seems to have gone into this collaboration than last but whether the All-Courts justify their €90 price tag is up to you. Still, if money isn’t a problem and you can roll with that rubber toe box then these are a good choice for summer.

Tiny Vices – Various 21

Posted in Art by peeped on January 28, 2009

Tiny Vices is an online gallery of photographs edited by Tim Barber. The site introduces readers to a plethora of different visual works from a contribution base ranging from relatively unknown photographers to larger names such as Ryan McGinley.  The latest update showcases the contributions of hundreds of different photographers over the previous year. Named Various 21, the album of some 400 images is eclectic to say the least.

Paris: Junya Watanabe F/W 09

This has been one of my favourite shows from Paris this year.  For F/W 09 Junya has created a ‘hunting season’ inspired collection inwhich plaids, quilted fabrics and cords dominate (this winter’s fantastic C0mme cropped cords seem to be back).  All in all a very wearable collection, the jackets in particular standout.

Visvim Preview 1

Visvim Preview 2

Oh dear.  The December shots seemed much more promising, this just looks like Hypebeast fodder. Lets hope the first picture is a more accurate representation of the whole collection’s aesthetic(I’d put money on this judging by Visvims track record). I’m not worried, just disappointed.
