On the face of it there may not seem to be a huge difference when crossing the border from Washington, USA to British Colombia, Canada but something definitely feels different. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it at first, are the surrounding very different? No. The highway still cuts through sparse flat countryside, the horizon is still dominated by tall ominous mountains. Are the people different? Not really, they were just as friendly as their Seattle counterparts. More roadkill? Nah, still the same amount of death littering the highway. Better radio? Nope, still shit. It was not until we reached Vancouver that it hit me, compared to America, Canada exudes a certain freshness. It just seems so new and clean.

Junya Watanabe F/W 09 Video

Posted in Fashion by peeped on June 15, 2009

Special thanks to Tres Bien for this one, here is an official look at the Junya Watanabe for Comme des Garcons Fall 09 line. There are a couple of fantastic looking jackets on display and as usual with Watanabe, the styling is perfect. Plaids, quilted fabrics and cords dominate this collection which has a distinctly English hunting gent feel too it. There are also a number of nice looking reversible items on display some of which featuring what I can just about make out to be the Baracuta label- a very sensible outerwear collaboration indeed. From the collection, I especially like the Barbour-esque quilted jackets with the contrast suede shoulder and elbow patches.

D. LEE F/W 09 Video

Posted in Fashion by peeped on June 13, 2009

Always love a bit of slow-mo. This short clip offers a glimpse of the fall collection from D. LEE (formerly A-Z Collection) which appears to be shaping up rather nicely. On view are two brilliant looking knitwear pieces (which I’ve hyped before); a nordic patterned incarnation and a chunky cable knit number. It’s nice to see the clothes in their free flowing glory as opposed to being forced to stare at photos. No word on stockists as of yet plus it’s a shame the glass doesn’t break.

Wings + Horns Dayton Boots

Posted in Fashion by peeped on June 11, 2009

Last season’s immensely popular Wings + Horns Dayton Service Boot (above) has returned, only this time in brown with a vintage finish. Lower and more streamlined than many other boots out there, these are perfect for wearing with slimmer jeans and are hard wearing enough to take some serious battering. The Daytons are soaked to give them their distinct shape and hand distressed to give them a well worn look. Stop looking at my misleading picture, click more for this season’s release…

Jean Touitou Interview + London Store

Posted in Fashion by peeped on June 10, 2009

Hit up Hypebeast for a decent interview with A.P.C. founder Jean Touitou in which he chats about funding a Parisian school and the imminent collaboration with Supreme.

Also, I hear that A.P.C. will be opening a London store later this year at 35a Dover Street. The shop is rumoured to be opening in September.  No ‘official’ word yet though.

Oki-Ni Archive

Posted in Fashion by peeped on June 5, 2009

Online shop and comedy club Oki-Ni has begun archiving  past collections from a select few designers. This nice little feature currently plays host to Raf Simons and Levis and as usual, there are laughs aplenty. Modeling faux-pas aside, it is cool in today’s culture of fast-paced bleeding-edge coverage to stop and take a nostalgic look back at older items. The Levis archive isn’t so hot, but there are a number of stand-out pieces from Raf’s back catalogue with some items dating from as far back as 2003. Updated monthly, this feature serves as both a nice retrospective look back at the history and development of the featured brands and also as a frustrating look-what-you-can’t-buy peep show.
