ToJ Leathers

Posted in Fashion by peeped on September 22, 2009

The guy behind the epic e-success that was the bespoke varsity jacket is back with a set of classic leather jackets. Using similarly high end materials, ToJ will create Moto, Pareto and Bomber styles from butter soft lamb’s or hard as nail’s calf’s leather- the choice is yours. Same goes for the measurements. There really isn’t a better deal out there at this price point I’m certain of it. Sure, you need to dedicate some serious time to reading through the thread (there NEEDS to be a website with consolidated info), but ultimately it’s worth it for one hell of a bargain. It should also be noted that a gortex harrington jacket has been produced which boasts a very welcome slimmer fit to the original Barracuda and is available fully reversible.

Ryan McGinley Moonmilk

Posted in Photography by peeped on September 7, 2009

With his first show in the UK, Ryan McGinley showcases a collection of vivid photos which, as usual with McGinley, feature his friends in the nude. Famous for his point-and-shoot, brash style this collection differs from his other works by taking the focus away from the people and onto their surroundings. Moonmilk is shot entirely in an underground cave complex somewhere in North America, a tonne of lighting equipment was used and the shoots were conducted in subzero temperatures. The vibrant lighting and stunning location create an otherworldly and beautiful set of photos.

Moonmilk opens at the Alison Jacques Gallery just off Oxford street in London and runs from 10th September to 8th October. An accompanying book will also be released by independent publisher Morel. Oh and also check out this blog which has an almost unhealthy obsession with the photographer.

Dana Lee Fall 09 Stockists

Posted in Fashion by peeped on September 4, 2009

I bring word of stockists for the imminent Dana Lee (formerly of A-Z Collection) debut line, sadly though this list is short. I am told however that the ‘full’ launch of the line will occur for next summer’s collection so expect many more stockists then. In the mean time we’re left with these locations to pick up this great looking collection.

  • Bespoke Boutique, Norwich.
  • Dossier Shop, New York.
  • Golden Age, Chicago.
  • Two of a Few, Vancouver.

John Stezaker

Juxtaposing photographs found in magazines, books and on postcards John Stezaker creates delightfully obtuse collages which more often than not play around with facial features to surreal and unsettling effect. A small body of his work can currently be seen at the Saatchi Gallery, London.

Posted in Music by peeped on September 4, 2009

This is terrifying. Salem create sparse, atmospheric soundscapes driven by rudementary beats, heavy heavy bass and a ton of synth. From the odd video that pops up every few months the North American trio clearly draw more than a little inspiration from Lynch – look for the nauseatingly uncomfortable Skullcrush video and the bizarre ‘Dirt’ clip. As mysterious as their music, it is tough to find much meaningful information about Salem, a band who rarely play live and have only released 2 EPs – but of course this is one of the most appealing things about them.

I really wanted to post up ‘Frost’ but sadly I couldn’t find this anywhere but their myspace (go listen). Instead here is probably their most accessible song to date and also one of their best, ‘Redlights’.
